Thanksgiving is the time of the year when you think about what you’re thankful for.
At The Adventure Company we do what we love and love what we do. Helping to make people’s life an adventure and showing our guests the world of whitewater rafting is one of the most fulfilling occupations we can think of.
Therefore, our list of things we are thankful for is pretty long. However, we decided to share our hit list of gratefulness with you.
We hope you enjoy it, Happy Thanksgiving!

1. Colorado’s unmatched scenery
.We’re thankful that we can call the Colorado Rocky Mountains our home!
We are fortunate to live where others come to vacation. Our drive to “work” looks like a fancy screensaver and no matter how often we look at it, we can’t get enough of the deep blue sky.
.
. 2. Endless adventure opportunities
We are thankful that there is an endless amount of adventures out there. River rafting, all and every possible style of skiing, hiking, snow shoeing, sledding, ziplining, atving, snowmobiling, climbing, … those are only some of our favorite adventure activities around here.
However, it is not just our sweet location, which opens the doors to all these wonderful Colorado adventures. We’re also thankful for the mindset, which allows us to seek new adventures everyday!
.
3. Our wonderful customers
Grateful for the fact that people seek adventures and trust our experienced team to take them on Colorado’s awesome rivers. Showing our customers the impressive wilderness, seeing them smile when fresh whitewater splashes in their face and helping them to make memories with their family & friends is truly fulfilling.
We appreciate that families realize what we do to help ensure safety and that more and more people trust us and our experienced guides every year.

4. Our clean rivers! – The Upper Arkansas River
Colorado’s rivers and whitewater are amazing. Browns Canyon National Monument is breathtaking and only minutes from our riverside location on the Arkansas River. So we are clearly thankful for natures miracles.
However, we are also thankful for how clean our rivers are. This isn’t something one can take for granted these days.
By the late 1900’s, after decades of mining and agricultural contaminants drained into the Upper Arkansas River, the water quality had declined and had a negative impact on the health of the river and its beautiful native trout population.
Fortunately, a number of federal agencies, as well as the Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Geological Survey, cooperated to clean up the area. In the past 20-25 years, the river has responded and has made an amazing comeback!
Today, in the age of commonly losing the natural beauty and healthy ecology of many of America’s most pristine rivers, it is incredible to see the Arkansas River bounce back. All too often, we realize the negative impacts of dams, pollution, and lack of water due to growing populations and increased water consumption, too late to be able to turn around these destructive impacts.
Seeing this development and enjoying gold medal fishing status is unique and something we are especially thankful for.

We could go on forever, but we have to start preparing our turkey and spend some quality time with family and friends. Hope you have a great day!
Happy Thanksgiving!
